What is TabTasker?
TabTasker is a collection of free, browser-based utilities for working with PDFs, images, audio, AI tasks and developer chores. Every tool runs entirely on your own device using modern web technologies (Web Workers, the Canvas API, WebGPU, WASM and the Web Crypto API) so your files never leave your browser tab.
Why we built it
Most online utility sites work the same way: you upload your file, a server somewhere processes it, and the result is sent back to you. That model gives the operator full visibility into your data and creates real risk for sensitive documents: contracts, scans, IDs, recordings, code with secrets in it.
Modern browsers are powerful enough to run that processing locally. So we built a platform where every tool does exactly that: no server upload, no account, no file content tracking, no compromise.
What we offer today
- 20 PDF tools: PDF Workspace, edit, merge, split, compress, convert to JPG/Word/Excel, watermark, rotate, unlock, protect, redact, compare, OCR, and PDF to Podcast.
- 13 image tools: Image Workspace, convert, AI upscale, AI background removal, blur faces, zero-shot image tags, captioning, image OCR, metadata & EXIF viewer, and color picker.
- 8 audio tools: Audio Workspace, convert, trim, compress, denoise, pitch & speed, transcription player, speech-to-text, and text-to-speech.
- 11 text tools: local AI chat, text summariser, and sentiment analysis.
- 15 developer tools: base64, JSON formatter, JWT decoder, URL encode/decode, regex tester, diff checker, hash generator, UUID generator, timestamp converter, color converter, QR code generator, cron helper, password generator & strength checker.
Why local-only matters
Popular online AI assistants such as ChatGPT or Claude run their models on remote servers. When you upload a document to those platforms, the provider receives a copy of your file. Many of their terms of service state that submitted content may be retained and, in some cases, used to improve or train future models. Even when a vendor claims it does not train on your data, the file still traverses external infrastructure and is subject to that provider’s security posture and legal jurisdiction.
For individuals and non-sensitive data this may be acceptable. But individuals often handle sensitive documents too: bank statements, medical records, tax returns, government IDs, personal photos. Uploading those to a remote service means trusting a third party with deeply private information.
For companies the stakes are even higher. Enterprises handling contracts, intellectual property, patient records, or internal drafts require strict control over where those files travel. Data-residency policies, GDPR compliance, and internal review processes all demand that sensitive documents be edited with full discretion and never handed to third-party servers without explicit approval.
TabTasker eliminates that risk entirely. Because every tool runs inside your browser, your files never leave your device. There is no server-side processing, no cloud storage, and no possibility of your content being used for model training. You get the convenience of online tools with the control of a local application.
How processing works
When you drop a file into a tool, it is read into your browser’s memory and handed to a dedicated Web Worker (or a WASM module like tesseract.js, or a transformers.js model running on WebGPU). The result is materialised as a Blob in your browser and offered to you as a download. No bytes ever travel over the network. You can verify this by opening the browser DevTools Network tab.
Transparent by design
TabTasker is built on top of permissively licensed open-source libraries (MIT, Apache-2.0, ISC, BSD). We do not require you to log in, and we never send your files or tool inputs to analytics services. This site does not load advertising or analytics trackers. Read more in our Privacy Policy. You can review the full dependency and model list on the attributions & licenses page.
Who operates this site
TabTasker is operated by Vehicularis Limited, a company incorporated in England and Wales, United Kingdom.
